A graceful runner
In the wide open desert
A powerful horse

Graham Ellis, 12, was born on Shaw Island, and has recently returned after living a decade on Lopez. He commutes to Friday Harbor Middle School by skiff each morning and plays clarinet in the seventh grade band. He is a good friend with a poet's heart.
