Surprise on the Caye
By Galen Ellis
I open the door,
Walk into the morning light,
Sit in solitary silence.
The wind and waves blur away.
No sounds reach my mind.
the sun hovers as if forever over the water,
As if Helios himself had come to greet me.
Suddenly someone is next to me,
And I look away.
When I look back,
The moment is shattered
As the day breaks around me.
